Welcome to another episode of my podcast, where we pause to reflect, reset, and remind ourselves of what truly matters.
My name is Akinboye Akinpelumi, and today’s episode is titled “Stay Different.”
In a world moving at the speed of light, it’s getting harder to stay grounded—harder to hold on to values, and harder to remain different, especially when everyone else seems willing to do anything for attention.
Someone once asked, “What is that one thing society has lost, but nobody is talking about?”
The answer? Shame.
Have you seen the kind of content people post these days in the name of “just vibes” or “fun”?
Sometimes, I sit and wonder—do they not care about their future?
Because one thing is certain: the internet does not forget.
Let’s be clear:
🎯 The internet is not just a place to go viral—it’s a database. A memory card that never crashes.
Not long ago, the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria began requiring visa applicants to submit their social media handles.
Now imagine working hard for an opportunity that could change your life, only to lose it because of something foolish you once posted for clout.
Let that sink in.
People are screenshotting your foolishness, saving your recklessness—not because they care about you, but because one day, it may be used against you.
I know you're different. I know that every day, it gets harder for you—because you feel alone.
It seems like you're the only one who sees things differently.
The truth is, we are living in a world full of noise, trends, and sameness, and being different is hard—especially when your difference means choosing to be decent.
Choosing values.
Choosing to do the right thing—even when it’s not trending.
As English philosopher and religious leader William Penn once said:
“Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it. Right is right, even if no one is doing it.”
Sometimes, doing what’s right feels lonely.
You get mocked. Laughed at. Ignored.
You’re called “too serious,” “old-fashioned,” or even “boring.”
But I’m here to remind you today:
You’re not heading in the wrong direction—you’re just ahead of your time.
And the best place to be… is ahead.
Your discipline, your values, your sense of shame—
They may not be liked, but they will be respected.
They may not be trendy, but they will be rewarded.
And if you’re still listening right now, I want to celebrate you.
Because it means you’re different.
You’re not just scrolling aimlessly—you’re investing in your future, your character, and your legacy.
That is what separates the noise-makers from the history-makers.
So, I encourage you—don’t get tired.
Your steps may be quiet, but your results will be loud.
Don’t join the crowd, because most of them are lost.
Everything we do today has consequences. The results always come—whether good or bad.
Thank you for spending this time with me.
If this episode spoke to your heart, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that their difference is not a weakness—it’s their strength.
Have a great day ahead. Stay rooted. Stay real. Stay different.
